  • Mazzer Doser screws

Hi all, wondering if anyone can help me with this. I have a mazzer super jolly doser that I want to clean out, and I think I may have stripped the screw, but not entirely, its a hex screw. Theres grinds quite caked on too. Any suggestions?

Get some Easy Outs from Bunnings there is a cheap set for under $10 that is on my list of bit and pieces to buy. Probably can't link here due to sponsor only policy but just do a search.

You drill a hole then hammer in an easy out which has an anti-clockwise thread then using a spanner or pliers reverse out the screw.

Just did this thanks for suggestion, I drilled the first bit to get deep enough to stop at the start of thread, then i hammered in the reverse screw, but it wont hammer in place and also it can't seem to get a hold of the screw? i'm going back to bunnings tomorrow but anything else i can do?

Not sure which type EZ-Out you were using but have found that the type depicted in the photos below work extremely well for most screws and for me, I reckon are better than the original type...

Thanks Mal, i've just spent over $30 on different sizes on easy outs from bunnings. It just doesnt grip on, the screw is really some quality stuff its incredibly hard to bite into, it just shaves off. Will try to buy that kit later

The ones I've referred to above are made from a pretty tough s/s and haven't failed me so far, if all else fails...

if you have [access to] a Dremel - you can cut a thin slot with a 'cut-off' wheel and try using a flathead screwdriver.

it is probably a stainless steel screw, so not forgiving...

it is stamped as a "12.9" screw so "high tensile" and gonna be very hard to deal with (I'm sorry to say)

You could try spraying the bolt with WD40 or StrikeHold to try and loosen it or reduce the seizing or corrosion which has it locked.

              Yep, or Penetrene etc...

So I sprayed it with WD40 and tried to tap it out with a flathead but nothing. Then made the edges a bit more rough from the drill, and just enough to hammer in the easy out to stay in place. Thanks heaps guys. New problem, anyone know how to resit the shot counter from a superjolly doser?
