FWIW, I suspect that may be due to the Vario's chamber filling up with grounds and then not being cleaned out.

I reckon the Vario has two common issues if they are not maintained / used properly.
    1) To make it so compact the adjusters are lightweight. Setting the grind finer without running the motor will be likely to throw them out of adjustment. A five minute fix.
    2) Continuing to run a Vario after the chamber is full is far too common. BTW, the whole sound changes (different noise from that video) and that means it should have been cleaned out before it gets to that stage. This does two different things. Initially, the particle spread goes to custard and the coffee tastes like crap. Keep using the defenseless grinder and it starts to put extra pressure on the burrs, raising them up and eventually getting coffee grounds under them. That is when that "youtube" noise occurs.

FYI, I give my Varios a quick brush & blast (40psi / double water trapped airline) every time I refill the 250g hopper. It probably needs to be done every 750g of coffee (or every cuppa if the roast is dark and oily).

    I hope this helps.

    Mahlkonig vario problem

    Hi all

I've got a vario which has recently developed an issue. All of a sudden one day it was makeing the noise in the video below. I've detached it from the drive belt and the noise no longer is there. Am i looking at new gearing in it?
    thanks Jamie
