They are a nice grinder, very nice. If you have any questions, let us know. Each grinder is different too. I have the Atom 60E so it will be quite different to yours in many ways. I find with mine I must have a certain minimum amount in the hopper to get reproducible weights in the portafilter but yours you may not need to. I think the 65 is a better grinder as it is the second generation of the Atom series. On the other hand, they are all good and do the job.
Yes, the quiet is nice. All the Atom grinders are very quiet. I also like the pulse manual feed as well and the design of the menu system, very simple and logical. It even gives the shot count.

Mazzer Mini or Eureka Atom??

I have a Eureka atom 65. I just picked it up last week and it's a beast. I don't have any other experience with other grinders as this was my first grinder but it feels really solid in design like it will last a lifetime and it is very quiet which is always a plus. You can't go wrong if you go for an atom ?

The fork on the Atom is much better than the one on the Mignon Specialita. It is quite thick metal. I had both grinders. It isn’t a big issue though.Originally posted by gerbi View PostI have Eureka Mignon Specialita and I am very happy with it.
Build quality exceeded my expectations.
The "weakest link" in build quality is the portafilter holder ("fork"). I think the design and the build quality of portafiler holder is pretty similar across all Atom and Mignon grinders. Unfortunately.

To hold the portafilter securely in place, I made a little attachment out of rubber mat that sits over the portafilter fork. Works a charm.

The Faustino PF holder is designed to only be hands free with rocket style spouted PFs. Their spouts are away from the handle and will sit nicely under the holder to grip in place. Regular PFs that have spouts closer to the handle and naked PFs must be held in place.

I have Eureka Mignon Specialita and I am very happy with it.
Low retention was one of the reasons I pick it. Specialita got the biggest burr and lowest retention in Mignon family.
It is quiet. But this was never a selection criteria for me. Most likely Atom will be quieter.

Minecraft-inspired design looks Ok to me. From my point of view the design is less awkward compared to something like Baratza Sette.
If you like Mazzer Mini design there is Mignon's "twin brother" (Ok Ok, not so "twin") called "Rocket Faustino" - similar size, similar specs, similar controls, slightly smaller burr (50mm vs 55mm in Specialita). But the design is "inspired by" Mazzer Mini. As far as I understand Rocket Faustion is build by Eureka. You can think about it like it is Eureka Mignon trapped in Mazzer Mini's body.
A word of warning - after playing with Rocket Faustino in store I came to a conclusion that it's portafiler holder is very solid high quality USELESS piece of aluminium
- I could not figure it out how to hold my naked portafilter in it.
So please do you own research too.

I have the Atom. Great grinder but I would still be tempted by the Mini...ooh ooh which way to go. The Mini is slower but I remain unconvinced that slow is a problem for a home user. It is also reasonably quiet although the Atom would be quieter.
It is bullet proof build quality against some practicality with the Atom. I certainly wouldn’t rule out getting a Mazzer Mini e in the future although I’m quite happy with the atom 60e I have.
The other choice overlooked is the Eureka Mignon Specialita. It is probably the choice for accurate dosing although I like the more robust build of the Atom overall.

I've only used the Atom but I love it. I won't be changing in any hurry and don't have any upgraditis. I've just got a hand grinder though for grinding for filter and maybe the odd decaf espresso shot. The Atom is really nice on the ears, personally I love the aesthetic look of the Atom too. The look of a grinder matters to me, it's a nice shape with a nice finish. I've read some people have upgraded the hopper to the short round style because they find the 'rectangle' shape doesn't drop beans as well as it could. I haven't noticed it to be an issue with mine. The Atom does retain a bit of grind, but if you are ok with purging a couple of seconds in the morning it's fine. I don't think you'd be disappointed with it, although I've not used the Mazzer so I can't compare. Sometimes ignorance is bliss!

Mazzer Mini or Eureka Atom??
Hey,
I'm looking to upgrade from my Macap M2M V2 for when my new e61 machine arrives. Will be used for espresso only in a home setting. Between 2-4 shots daily.
I have narrowed it down to either Mazzer Mini E or the Eureka Atom.
I'm leaning towards the Atom due to it being quiet compared to the Mazzer.
Thoughts or experience with either would be great or even suggestions for others?
Thanks Marty
