I don't bother about checking the burrs touching. The Specialita is set from the factory for espresso to make the initial adjustment easier and it is pretty close.

The burrs touch at -0.5 for me (so, one half notch past zero), and most of my espressos are in the 1.5 to 2.75 range

I have never tried to zero it (not sure how to apply the term correctly).
Yes, small adjustments - noticeable difference.
My regular position on the dial is around 0 and I don't remember ever going beyond 0 or 5 on the scale.

Yep sounds about right. Only need to do small adjustments on my Mignon to make a big difference.

Eureka Mignon Specialita
Just received a Specialita, and am getting seasoning, dialling in, etc.
I'm interested to know where others are finding their espresso setting relative to zero'd burrs.
In other words, from the point where the burrs touch, how far back are you dialling to get into the espresso zone?
I'm curious because on mine, it is only a matter of a couple of digits on the scale (ie not even a full turn of the adjusting dial).
Thanks!
