Hello, some help with my mazzer sj would be nice. I would like to remove the auto stop switch "plastic stop flap" above the exit from the burrs.
It is nice to "see" the grinds coming out to make quick adjustments easier if grinds clump, or look too fine etc. Also it would make cleaning up the chamber far easier; and it is not like I use the damn thing! Grind on demand works best for me.

Dosing chamber comes off easily, so does the plastic stop unit as well; however disconnecting the wires... Read on.

I notice a lot of wires in the sj, if I remove the two (light grey) wires from the white plastic loom panel, do I have to join the circuit back up with some of the removed wire? Yes, no? Also there is another length of wire that runs (in a yellow conduit) into the bottom of the dosing chamber; is this part of the auto stop switch too?

If anyone has done this mild mod; please assist. Many thanks.

Also I am looking for a grinds tray for under the feet of the grinder for the mess I make. If anyone knows where I can buy one; would be very nice.

    Scott.

All you need to do it take off the flap, snip the wires and splice them together....job done.

        Hi Scott,

A cleaner way to do it is to remove the bottom of the grinder and link the wires in the distribution block. Its very easy (2 different size screwdrivers is all you need) and the wires are all colour coded.

The wires in the doser are for a auto start function. If you leave the grinder on, all you need to do is pull the doser 2 or 3 times and it will start grinding. At home I have removed the auto-stop and auto-start functions.

There is also a guide for doing it on the Kony (which should be the same) here:

Agreed Jason, if you remove those wires and loosen the doser you can draw the whole switch assembly and wiring out of the unit so it doesnt look ugly and can easily reinstall it later (if you come to sell it or something). Took me maybe 15 minutes on my SJ.

What type of screwdriver do you need to remove the screw on the metal clip (which seems to be the main screw holding the base in)?

If its the same as my Mini its a tamper-proof T20 Torx. If you dont have one you can grab something like this and youll get a heap of other useful bits. Youll need a hex driver like a socket or cordless drill to drive the adapter with.

While I have got the  SJ guys...  Does that timer dial make grinding for a  single dose a pain? I am trying  to decide between an SJ and a mini...

                    Thanks

                        Hey Sink Cut,

Id take the SJ over the mini most days. Check out this link regarding the hoppers:

                        So yeah they fit.

Thanks  YZ... looks like I should reserve mine soon. And  how about grinding just one shot(double) with that timer?

                            Re: super jolly tech

I basically just put as many beans as I need, so I throw the beans I need in, crank the timer and let it run out, OR flick it to off. no probs.
