OK so I purchased a used Isomac Granmacinino; was quite shaky and the usual was grinding fine but not fine enough so loosened the grub screw to get more grind room.
Then it started jamming. Then it would just spin, as if nothing was in it. I’d have to empty the hopper, vacuum it out and start again. Would go for a shot them same thing. Pulled it apart, and found the plastic gear inside had 3 teeth ground back.

Ordered a new gear from Di Bartoli, put it in, adjusted, seemed great, nice and fine! Then it started all over again. After only a few jams/spins pulled it apart and the gears had stripped again - only had it in for 5 minutes!!!

It seems to only be wearing the gear teeth the distance where the pinion gear is. Please see the photo (the other gunk is some food grade lube I put it, like behind group seals).

So I’m wondering - am I trying to grind too fine and it’s jamming and subsequently stripping the gear? Just strange it happened on a brand new gear. Nothing seemed bent, so can’t pinpoint the problem. Just that $30 for a new gear each time it jams isn’t fun.

cheers
