I have a kinu m47 phoneix, it works pretty well for both espresso and brew, the build is pretty solid and very easy to clean.

JK700 thanks - leaning towards the kinu m47. Not sure whether to spend the extra on the classic vs the Phoenix. Looks like very minor differences..

Phoenix has a bunch of plastic parts which is why it is cheaper. Also costs $399, Classic is $700, have read on here and home-barista for 1ZPresso grinders. As others have mentioned Comandante C40 with RedClix will work fine for espresso even high end machines. I use a Jx Pro with a Flair which is very sensitive to grind (but the burr set works on both espresso and filter so others grinders prob have a slight edge ) and the increments are more than adequate it only cost $250 delivered, there is also the Je Plus which has the Italmill burrs which are used in a few grinders and are more designed for espresso.

I know you've specified stepless but some of these modern stepped grinders are so fine in their increments there is more than enough to fine tune different beans.

Yes, I believe they use the same burr, the grind quality should be very similar. The differences are user experience and reliability, if you want to pay extra money on the full metal solid build grinder then M47 Classic is definite a great choice.

yeah I am not talking about exactly the same but powered I mean are there any electric grinders on the market that give the same consistancy as the Comandante ?

That's really tough to compare hand grinders to electric as there is so much more to electric grinders like speed, dosing consistency, burr type and composition and much much more. If you are talking about the top end of mid range electric grinders (like the comandante is the top end of mid range hand grinders) there is a lot of choice and many trade offs for size, speed, cost, tech etc.

It depends if you mean across the whole range or just for espresso or just for filter, and do you want to take similar features into account? Like do you only want to consider single dosing grinders. If you’re talking about across the whole grinding range then maybe the Niche, but the considerably larger burrs give a different flavour profile. If you’re talking just espresso it’s a bit easier to find something that gives the same grinding consistency, like the Mahlkonig Vario, but again the flavour profile will be different due to the different burr set. So how much of a direct comparison do you need?
