Getting mine in a few days, super excited after realising that a SGP is rubbish.

Are any of the mods really necessary? Seems like people like to tinker with it, cutting out the screens etc. I'm just not sure if it'll make any difference to me, considering I'm just getting into espresso.

Enjoy! Where did you order it from?

I'd say some of the mods re necessary - the biggest being the declumper mod. However I believe they have rectified this in V2.
Personally I found the declumper meant there was a significant amount of grinds retained and there would be a bit of a sneeze when pumping the bellows.
Other things like dial indicators, tilted bases etc all help but aren't really needed.

You need to let the burrs season before starting to tinker I recon. I noticed the improvement over time and now have very consistent pours with my DF64.

I reckon the dial indicator is almost a necessity if you’re changing between pour over and espresso regularly. Easiest mod and helps with consistency massively.

Reckon you are right here - I don't switch between espresso/filter and normally it's just a few points either way when switching beans. But huge changes would be a PITA if doing regularly without a better dial indicator.

My DF64 was ordered direct from Alibaba with the DLC burrs and it has been going great for the last few months.
I have not done any mods, and my preferred method is to grind direct into the PF until the output slows, then afterwards breifly on and bellows to be dumped (20.3g in, 19.5 into the PF, 0.8g reground/chaff dumped).
Looking out for a grind indicator next (at the moment use a sim ejection tool as the reference point and dots of blu-tack to indicate reference settings for different beans.)

A friend has a DF64 with stock Titanium burrs, and recently is unable to grind fine at even 1 on the scale. Its been in use for about 6 months. He's thoroughly cleaned it and attempted burr alignment, which is obviously way off. Rotating the upper burr really didn't solve anything. Can someone direct me to any videos or forum posts that describe the shimming process in detail as that looks like what may be the next move - or are there other things we should consider first? I found several alignment videos using the marker technique, but can't find any on the shimming process unfortunately.

I don't believe anyone on this forum has posted a guide on how to align the burs. However I believe there is a few on the Home Barista forum - so have a search through there.
It is also no different to aligning any other flat burr grinder apart from the individual layout of the inside of the grinder etc. The process is still the same.

Thanks for the response. I was just using wrong search terms on HB and eventually found several really helpful links. So thank you.

If anyone is looking to buy one of these from the df64coffee website I suggest you add it to your cart, go to check out and enter an email address, then go as far through the checkout process as you can without ordering. I was curious about shipping costs and did that, then a week later I received a 10% off coupon, then another week or two later a 15% one.

Recently got a DF64 from the sales forum and fortunately have a 3D printer. What mods are recommended for it?

So far have printed a dial indicator, cup adaptor and tilted base. Noticed some alternative declumpers (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4883157) but not sure how wise it would be compared to the silicone ones that can be purchased.

Hey mate, I had been considering doing the same via alibaba - did you just end up getting an AUS plug adapter for it? I messaged the seller on alibaba and from what I remember they said they only had a few various EU plug options, but it's a crapload cheaper so definitely tempted to go down this route.

Hi there - the seller sent me a grinder with an AU plug, no adapter required.

Is this site gone? My computer setup warns me it is not certified and may be fraudulent?? Other options? Mat

I bought a DF-64 off them about a month ago, was delivered to Australia in about a week. The website loads for me perfectly in Chrome.

my router firewall/anti-virus also flags it as having malware, but could very well just be a false positive

Just received my DF64 from AB. Seasoning tonight with a kg of Aldi's finest medium roast, and will fire it up in anger tomorrow to start to compare to the Niche. Very excited to be comparing.

Be interested in your impressions. Such an amazing range of burrs available for the DF.

So I tried the Aldi beans this morning, out of morbid curiosity. There was a taste difference between the Niche and two shots I poured from the DF, at different grind settings. However none of them were tastes that you really want, but good to know a difference was there.
I only had one shot of beans left that I particularly wanted to try in the DF (a medium/light medium roast, with fruitier notes), so couldn't do any real comparison, however the one shot I did had far more clarify of flavours IMHO, compared to what I have been drinking this week, which was terrific. In my opinion it was my favourite cup of these beans that I've been drinking for the last week. Far from scientific, but promising.
Unfortunately off to Mexico (Melbourne) for the next couple of days, leaving on the Sparrows flight, so no more playing till I come back. However some other fruitier beans are defrosting, waiting for my return, and I'll do some more back to back tastings on the weekend (and get my better half to try, cause she has a palate unlike me).
                Working...
                X
