Hi all. I’m currently using an Eureka Mignon e with my ECM Synchronika v2. Looking for an upgrade and have been considering the following: 1. Eureka Atom 65e 2. Eureka Atom 75e 3. Eureka Mignon Specialita 4. Ceado e37j - looks good but outside my budget. Also saw a video of it being compared to a Mazzer Mini which is half the price. Single dozing is not big on my list as we are a family of coffee drinkers. Relatively low retention would be good to have. My main priority is nice fluffy grinds and something reliable as I don’t want to keep upgrading every few years. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated, even if not on the list above.

You could look at the 64 mm flat burr ECM /Profitec/ Titan ranges. ( i think they are all the same internals but some differences in looks/prices.) All have timed and manual dosing - very good adjustment and quality of grinds in the cup ( from my Profitec t64 ownership experience) . BUT not ideal if you switch between coffee methods - eg espresso to pour over- those wonderful micro adjustment dials make it a somewhat long job to re dial in the grinder each time. Forum Sponsor Jet Black stocks the Profitec and Ceado - so could be worth a phone call to get some comparison info. Cheers Darryl

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve looked at the Niche zero and that’s not something I want.
heycafe 1 appears to be a nice option but I know very little about them. I’m aware that it’s part of the same group as Mahlkoenig.
I’ll look into the ecm/titan options too.

I have the Ceado E37J which is an excellent grinder for the quality of shots it produces. While the price may be a deal breaker for many, there is also the Ceado E6P which has the same burr set as the E37J but costs $1500.

I saw a video comparing Ceado c37j to the mazzer mini. Not sure if the price in US is similar for these. I got a bit concerned as mazzer mini is almost half price these days here.Originally posted by flynnaus View PostI have the Ceado E37J which is an excellent grinder for the quality of shots it produces. I have a Synchronkia and had an ECM V-64 Titan paired with it. Looked great and ground great too. Only sold it due to the ongoing pandemic known as incurable upgraditis disease (EG-1) but l was very happy with it.

From memory the 75 has a larger burr chamber than the 65 and similar retention. The 60 and 65 have the same burr chamber so the 65 has less retention than the 60.Originally posted by Garrus View PostI think so too. The 75e is not much more expensive though. With the larger burrs I'm wondering if it would offer lesser retention due to limited space around the burrs.

I've been left very impressed by the HeyCafe 600 – as much the H1 , although the H1 is less an attractive option without the timed dosing for espresso brewing. H1 would be great for switching between methods ..
The HC600 resembles the latest Mazzer Kony S at half the price. 64mm Burrs. Timed dosing - the vertical chute and a reliable portafilter rest.

My Atom 75 arrived today. I’ve adjusted the burrs to suit my needs but I didn’t bother to zero out the burrs. Just adjusted from factory settings.
Early impressions:
1. The speed is ridiculously fast. I’m getting 20grams in 2.5 seconds. Not sure if this is normal but it is what’s happening. The factory timer settings are 3s for single shot and 8s for double.
2. The hopper it came with appears to be slightly different from what I see it photos online. It seems like the Atom 65 hopper. Also, there is a cylindrical rubber inset where the hopper goes. The screw for the hopper doesn’t quite align with the hole. Seems like the rubber is supposed to hold the hopper is position as opposed to screwing it in. Although, none of this is an issue as the hopper stays in position firmly. Just curious why this would be the case.
3. The grind consistency looks great and I could taste a notable difference in extraction. Although, it’s too early for claiming anything as it’s just day 1.
So far, I’m very happy with it. Let’s see how is goes over the next week or so.
I have no idea what burr season is and how long that would take.
