Rooster, I wonder if the tilt is due to flat grinders needing it to expel the grinds after centrifugal force or if Eureka believes market expectation is that a single doser must come on a tilt (as they all seem to, definitely all the ones you named)? I have no idea.

Interesting if the retention/transfer stats are accurate. But yeah the espresso/brew performance is super subjective, given the Niche uses Mazzer Kony burrs which are highly regarded and there have been some pretty scientific tests of those burrs against other grinders including blind tasting, grind distribution analysis and extraction yields.

This grinder does look like an absolute rip off of the Niche grinder (and others like Lagoon, EG1, Monolith) as well (flat versus conical burrs), Although you can't blame Eureka or other more mainstream grinders making finally meeting the home market which wants single dosing.

Fair comment about the dial. There are a few 3D printed oversized knobs to fit over the top of other Eureka dials. Possibly this is the same size or someone will make one

Looks very nice. I have a hang up with the tiny grind dial. So small, such big hands. I really like the big dials/wheels/collars. But that's maybe because I'm ham fisted. I have a friend with one and he loves it. Horses for courses I guess. Love the look though, and Eureka is a trusted brand in my book

Eureka sent out a new video today showing the Mignon SD in operation. Nothing new in it but a tasteful blend of background guitar with beans grinding.

That's amusing. They say the Niche is terrible for espresso and great for filter. Everyone over every heard said it's good for espresso and passable for filter, which is my experience too.

Not sure how much stock I would put in a manufacturers comparison but worth a look

I agree, and that's the main reason I hadn't brought a ceado e5sd before now. Didn't want to have to play with something that looks like a pleasure device mounted on a grinder to get the last grounds out
I would've been more excited by this if they built a single dose grinder that didn't need a bellows, I just think these ones look better than other bellows options.

FWIW I reckon the bellows is an ugly and poorly thought out method of dealing with retention, about 10 years ago people were doing similar to Rocky grinders they used to add a click clack lid to the hopper for a similar outcome.

With all of the design expertise and the current obsessive fear of a few stray grounds, I would have thought they could come up with something a little more sophisticated than this.?

Latest pic from the Eureka mignon friends Facebook page.
RRP said to be a little under €600

Apparently like the mignon xl already has under 1g retention but with the optional bellows will probably be very close to 0.

Just my opinion but I think these bellows look so much better than any other ones available.

Nice or Niche? Looks like the latter with hard edges.

emslibbles you are way too hard, plenty of good useful info about the 'branded walnut lid' or 'extra-comfort adjustment knob'

They also have a fancy little best practice manual that shows the bellows or "blow up cleaning" system.
