  • Eureka Mignon Specialita -Special?

I'm hoping to get a BES920BK tomorrow, so need a grinder and i'm looking at getting one of the Eureka Mignon Specialita 55s..
Do these go on sale very often? Where would be the best place to get one from?

Supposedly can get one from Italy, with aussie plug for under $600..in about 1 week... worth importing?

    Cheers and TIA !

Yes, you might save a little importing it but have no local warranty if you ever have a problem and might cop import duties, clearance fees and GST after it arrives which can exceed the savings pretty quickly.

You would be far better off buying from a CoffeeSnobs Site Sponsor and getting a "real" Australian version and supporting good honest Australian businesses.

Just use the QUOTE FORM listed top and bottom of every page to send your query to all our Site Sponsors at once.

    Easy!

Of course the import duties and fees may go to general revenue but eventually they do trickle down to provided services like keeping varona mite out of our apiaries, various diseases out of our orchards and other crops; roads, courts, education, hospitals, national parks, defence forces, testing facilities to make sure that imported equipment doesn’t burn down our homes.
But, you know, if you are happy for everyone else to provide those things for you then go the black import route.

            OUCH lol
            Fair point though...
But when you're in the hospitality industry and no longer work anywhere near as much as you used to due to 'the thing that shall not be named', you gotta think a bit more carefully about finances
(last week i got 2 hours work, this week none)

There's a lightly used one on the site here.

Agree with the comments in that thread though regarding price.
                Unfortunate for him i guess..
plus shipping would probably make it even closer to new price..
                Thanks though!

I suggest casting a wider net. You can pick up a well cared for used grinder for much less than the Specialita. Decide what you are prepared to pay and place a "Wanted" add on the site. You would be surprised how many members have second grinders getting little use or in storage.

Not entirely sure i want second hand though....unless it's an absolutely solid grinder for a ridiculous price

Fair enough but you sent the quote form at 10:30pm AEST on Saturday night. I'm pretty sure you should get some responses from the site sponsors today (Monday) and can then decide if a no warranty import is good value and worth the risk.

I just received a Specialita from one of the site sponsors in the last month. I used the site sponsor quote link to get there "special" Coffeesnobs price. Every price response I got from all the sponsors was no different to what they advertised on there general websites.

Good to know. I was wondering what (if any) discount we'd get by using said forms; seems it's no different to any person asking for a discount/quote via regular contact channels.

"Seem no different" --- on a total sample count of 1 third party?
Hmmm. Gotta love the Internet some days!

I know many CS'rs that have received some very special deals by using the quote form on single items that didn't make the public websites but we have never said you'll get a special price, you might get one but it's not a given.

At the end of the day, it's a simple system that emails many trusted suppliers directly for very little effort on the customers part. Maybe easier and faster than visiting all the websites too and we'll give double money back on the FREE service if anyone doesn't like it.

I think you may have interpreted my comment as a complaint or negative feedback. It was just an observation based on a (yes 1) third parties comment; nothing more, nothing less. The time-saving element alone makes it worthwhile.
