I hope you did end up buying the Specialita from an Australian supplier, for the small amount you save which is normally reduced with the 10% GST on arrival plus your currency exchange fee on your card, it is not worth it in my opinion.
As Andy and others have said we do get pretty darn good service from the majority of our suppliers here in Australia. I am happy to haggle a price with an Australian supplier as I know that if something does go wrong it is normally a phone call to organise a repair. Good luck with your Italian supplier if thats where you got it from?
I would like to see a grinder turn up in a week from Italy with the current delays in world freight at the moment.

How are you going with the grinder, Krondorf? I should be picking one up tomorrow! Has it been fairly easy to dial in the right grind size?

Just on this, I've been pretty used to using the Breville smart grinder which displays the grind size on the screen as you turn the dial. So the change to the non-step grinder approach might be a big adjustment for me.

Decent turn around in the last fortnight. I like to support local, but a 12 month warranty on something like this shouldn't be limited to a year. Only major issue would be if there was a big problem with the burrs on arrival from italy as the electrics hsould be simple to fix.

Sorry for the late reply, I'm actually having a fair bit of trouble dialing in the grind with it.
Without the weight of the beans pushing down into the grinder, yesterday it took 1 minute to fully grind 18g of beans.
Today i filled the hopper, and it was a lot quicker, but i forgot to set the scales with the weight of the portafilter before grinding, so just had to guess.
The extraction was WAY too slow, so i may have over filled a little.
The grind also LOOKS a little clumpy, so not sure if that means i'm too fine? But if i go coarser, then the extraction is too fast..

              Hope this all makes sense
I'm kind of wishing i'd gone with the baratza sette 270.. but we'll see..

For me, i got it in AUS for $750, so wasn't really worth the savings (maybe could have saved $150 or so?)

Oh really? I got mine yesterday and am still working on dialing it in perfectly. But I'm grinding 18g in about 11sec. Have you pulled the black tab on the side all the way out? Maybe it's blocking some of your beans from dropping into the grinder?

                  Yes i have
once the beans have dropped enough i close it to minimize popcorning though
Where do you have yours set atm?
mines just below 1 and with the weight of the beans in the hopper it takes about 25sec to get 18g of grind out...

I'm grinding at 2.5 but might try and drop it just a touch. 1 seems very fine

I just pulled the trigger for one from these guys too. $570 landed. Savings probably well justifying choice.

Well i just put mine up to just below 2, and with 18g of grind i got 40g of espresso in 20sec
So that seems too fast to me?

Wow that is running super quick. I normally go with a 1:2 ratio for my brews. Today I ran the grinder for 11sec on 2.5 and ended up with 19g of ground coffee. Had my shot run for just under 27s to end up with about 35g of espresso. I make lattes so I prefer the higher ratio compared to the 1:1.5 that others go for. Where did you buy it from? I have read that there is a bit of variance between grinders so not everyone will be getting similar results on similar settings (even with the same beans).

What espresso machine are you using? (BEK920 here)
I'm wondering if i need to turn down the pressure on mine a tad too.. it's usually up around 9BAR i think...

These are awesome grinders and can't recommend them enough. I use mine with a scale and dial it in every couple of days to try and keep a consistent ratio
