I have a BDB paired with a Baratza Sette 270 (not virtuoso) which is a good espresso grinder for the price (obviously can get better more exxy grinders). Quite low retention as well which is good for me as I single dose.

But as mentioned above the Eureka grinders also are pretty good.

The Virtuoso is not designed for espresso, and will be painful to use for espresso. If it's ease of use and cleaning the BDB is the way to go (also makes excellent coffee when paired with a good grinder). I don't think you'll be disappointed with the BDB Classico combination.

  • Ugrading from the Breville Smart Grinder. Eureka and BDB or Baratza and Oscar II

Finally getting a home system set up we used to have the Sunbeam 6910 and the smart grinder. When it packed up awhile ago I never replaced it the grinder still works.

After much reading on here I can see that the grinder is considered to be as important, if not more important, than the machine.

I was going to just buy the Oscar II and live with the grinder I have but after reaching out to one of the suppliers on here they have recommended the Eureka Classico which is just over $500. If I pick up a BDB on sale I can probably get the BDB and Classico for the same price as just the Oscar II.

Then I started researching grinders and have gotten hopelessly confused. A lot of the reviews I read recommend the Baratza Viruoso + conical burr which is 1/2 the price of the Eureka.

I am going to be a pretty basic user. I want to be able to buy beans put them in the grinder and just go. I am looking for a good quality machine that is easy for a novice to use and clean.

Should I go the Baratza and the Oscar II or the BDB and the Eureka
