No worries. I've found it referred to but can't find models or burrs that might work. thanks for chiming in. :-)

LeroyC yeah... the mechanism on the Rok seems good to me - not moving around that much and the longer handle seems stable and easy to grind with - I like it... But I also note that very popular grinders like the commandant and the Kinu both have burr upgrades available, so I guess I thought it must make some difference and might be why folk are critical of it when I mention I have one... thanks for weighing in on the thread - much appreciated.

Replacing the burrs seems to be the common theme of upgrade threads on HB or reddit

Is it the burrs that are the problem? I’d be surprised. Normally with grinders it’s parts that hold and drive the burrs that leads to average results. I’m sure I’ve seen some people getting some good results with the Rok grinder and lever machine, but I don’t think it has a big following amongst Coffee Snobs members so you might need to check out other forums or Reddit.

Anyone? has anyone replaced the burrs on these with something else?

  • Rok Grinder? Are there mods available for better results?

Hello - I've had my Rok Grinder for just about a year now. Mostly I've used it for espresso, and I'm pulling shots with good crema through my Rok espresso machine.
The problem is, I have no point of comparison, and this is a rabbit hole, for sure. I recently started roasting and the retailer told me the weakest link (particularly for pour over) was my grinder - and that I needed flat burrs.
Ah... And he also said I need a better brew method.
the problem with coffee is always knowing when to stop... But still. I'm wondering whether there are mods to make the Rok Grinder better, or whether it's just better to look to upgrade the whole machine. i do really like the tactile hand grinding experience... but I do want to get better results so I can fully understand what a particular roast / bean can be...
Hope this makes a bit of sense...
Working...
