Many thanks for the references and comments. The reference to the Mazzer Super Jolly got me thinking
I may have the use of a Mazzer Kony e. Certainly an over-kill. It has been modified with the antistatic mesh removed in the throat and some plumbing fittings to create small hopper to reduce the hopper height and size! Not too many grinds on the clock.
I may look around for a small hopper (.5Kg) and fit it to the safety collar.
The only down thought is the quantity of grinds that are retained in the throat. It really is a high volume grinder where the grinds don't linger long. But I can't be too fussy
    I will play.
    Many thanks

I'd recommend something in the prosumer / commercial range second hand. An M4D would be fine as you've found, as would a host of others.

There's a Eureka Atom in the for sale section for $700 in Sydney, but they're happy to post.

This Eureka Atom is in Perth for $850 but not sure if it's still available

Mazzer Major Electronic $400 (in Melbourne and I'd allow for new burrs but still a steal)

We use about 1 Kg of beans a fortnight and the budget around $1000.For the work one I need to grind for a max of ten cups at a time. Previously I used the original M4D at work and it managed this very well.

What's your budget? How much coffee will be getting ground per week?

    Macap M4D Comments

I have a Macap M4D which has been and is totally amazing! I am looking for something similar or the same. I wish to use it at work for a small group of people. It is matched with a Giotto Rocket (08) which trundles along nicely (serviced regularly of course).
I see from various comments that the M4D is old technology. When I bought the original it was the ants pants.
I would appraise some comments on a way forward.
