Thank you, just purchased one. $38 incl shipping is much better value.

Saw a post on the Facebook Weber owners group that the bean feeders are available in Australia from central coast coffee if anyone is looking for one from closer to home.

As aants mentioned, once installed you place the chute back down as it was...you could probably do away with the anti popcorn cover though, which should also make feeding the beans in much easier

You remove the rubber band after installation. The ring sits back as per usual.

That's rad! I reckon a similar/modified version to sit between the top burr carrier (with bean feeder) and the normal dosing funnel would be a winner.

I'd like one just to get rid of the need to prod any moist beans down the burr-hole (🤔)... I can't quite tell from the video, but it seems the original chute has to remain strapped up out of the way (hence including the industrial-strength/comically-oversize rubber band). Not sure that's a great thing aesthetically or from a safety point of view - I could see it damaging the finish just from being held to the top with vibration etc. from grinding, let alone the risk of it slipping & falling unexpectedly. I guess in time this might move to a user-removable design as Jim Hoffman suggested in his review. Alternatively, a removable collar could hold it up out of the way, maybe integrating a loading chute as well... 3D printing gurus, go to it; I have tonnes of ideas and no ability to actually implement them! 😅
Might also be good to have some protection in the unlikely and maybe impossible event of a bean getting stuck in the feeder and pinging itself or its companions out of the feeder (not saying this could or would happen, just a potential added benefit of having some kind of cap to the feeder).

Though just checking and it is out of stock again

looks like the bean feeder for the key is back in stock
shipping is definitely a killer although every subsequent addition only adds $16 to the shipping cost but has a base shipping cost of $58

I don't have a 3D printer... I see you are in Perth... I'd be willing to pay for one

I found and 3D printed this neat little 2 in 1 designed funnel and lid that was originally designed for the Versalab but does fit the Key perfectly as well

should also fit any other grinders designed with the shaft like that ie HG1

Yup. Let’s hope we can get it locally before December.

yeah... I commented on their IG post about how the shipping was ridiculous and got a PM from them saying how they're a small company and can't control shipping costs of DHL and I should think first before posting... kind of how I am not thinking first before writing this lol...

but yeah I will wait until Specht has them in stock but then it will still be a bit of shipping from Vic to me in Perth but hopefully no further markups...

It's a quite elegant solution for the pop corning issue that they tried to initially solve with the lid, which in turn made feeding beans in somewhat fiddly. I usually don't run too high RPM so I don't really get popconrning but still...
Working...
