Brilliant machine but until you put 7 or 8kg of beans through it you can't make a judgement call on it. Pours will likely be inconsistent with periodic channelling and grinds spraying everywhere. Hang in there!

Hi Hedonist,
Stay with it! After you get used to the E37SD workflow the flavour unlocked will be well worth it. I've been running an E37SD at home for a few months now and understand what you're seeing. But try to ignore the way the coffee comes out of the slide versus the Niche. Whether it's "fluffy" or not really doesn't matter. Give it one pump on the bellows when grinding is done. Keep the rubber cover on the chute. This will keep mess to a minimum.

Make sure you keep things as consistent as possible. Weigh the amount of coffee that’s in your basket, so always put 20g in so that variable is not the issue. Start with a fairly low/fine grind. If it chokes the machine, bump it up a few notches until the drip happens in the timeframe that you’re after. The least amount of variables when changing to a new grinder the better. I swapped from a sette 270 to a niche and it took me 3 shots to get it roughly to where I wanted it. But obviously I went from conical to conical. I didn’t have huge issues when I did have flat burrs though. You just need to go from one extreme to the other to see if it’s choking the machine or running too quick. Also, this is predominantly an Australian coffee page, but I don’t see why international people arnt allowed? If so, welcome

HI Hedonist
I am not familiar with the machine, but just googled and it has a lovely presence on the bench.
Although I usually cringe when a brand new item needs hacks to make it more workable ( this is more a gripe about manufacturing than the workarounds).
If you grind into the dosing cup provided, is there a way to raise the cup to hopefully contain more of the grinds... those prongs and design may preclude this.....
Keep at it I am sure those 83mm flat burrs will reward your efforts.

Definitely more than a stones throw! I would also try Home Barista forum, there is probably more chance of someone having the same grinder and being able to explain their technique for overcoming your issues.

Oh hi 338
I'm in Abu Dhabi. A bit more than a stone's throw from Sydney.
Thanks though

Hedonist, you don't have your location in your profile but if you are in Sydney might be worth calling Jetblack and see if you can visit with grinder and get 15 minutes with them on how to best use the grinder. Ceado is still relatively new on the Australian market and not that many members will have your model. Not all flat burrs or single dose grinders behave as you describe. If you make a clear list of your issues they may be able to help you on the phone - but I don't want to speak on their behalf. They are the importers.
I also hope another member may be able to help. I am sure you will get there, it is only a few days

new grinder making me chase my tail
I'm coming from Baratza 270wi to a Ceado e37sd. A straight-through grinder should really come with the following manufacturer warning:
If you move on to a flat burr grinder, your experience will be unpleasant at the least. Expect a lot of mess from bellows & brushes, painful added steps from RDT & WDT to your workflow, wasted (premium) beans from necessary purging, and tail chasing to dial in a grind.
The Ceado is a few days old.
I've manually grinded about a kilogram (two pounds).
Half of which was old coffee and the other half fresh beans.
I'm not pedantic, but I'm weighing what comes out as a baseline. To know where I stand.
At this point, I am getting +/- 0.2.
Which is ok.
And I'm still not getting fluffy grinds yet. Fluffy grinds will shoot out, then nothing for a few seconds, then a land slide of grinds will literally slowly slide out of the chute. Then spurts of fluffiness.
And the added RDT/WDT workflow, but slamming the bellow & shoving the brush into chute to get out the remaining 1 gram, the mess this all ensues....
Argh.
I'm having withdrawal symptoms!
Can someone walk me through transitioning from a straight through to a flat burr please.
