  • Eureka ATOM 60/65 vs Macap M42D

    Hi fellow coffeesnobs 😃

Like to get experiences about those two grinders I have mentioned above.
I have done a bit of research - Ex. Burr sizes are different but both made in Italy, which I like very much.
Just wanting to get some user experience feedback.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers.

I don't have any answers, but also keen for experiences on these. Although I'm also considering the Mignon XL...

I currently have the Atom 60 and I love it. It's not the quickest grinder in the world (around 12 seconds for a double shot) but it's certainly the quietest one that I've ever owned. It is programmable for single and double dose by time, but I only ever use it as an 'on demand' grinder.
      Hope that helps,
      Steve

Are you considering using it with hopper or as a single dose?

Yes, mainly to use with the hopper rather then single dose.

IMO, Atom is the best in 75mm and in 60/65mm I would pickup any of Macap / Atom / Mignon / Rocket - whichever is better price you can get and look you like, they're equally good.

          Thanks for the comments!

I am happy to go with 58mm burr or slightly bigger. The bigger the burr size, more retaining of grinds, isn't that so?
Please correct me if I'm on the wrong track!

The 'retaining' of grinds is more dependent on the distance between the burrs and the exit chute, and the design of the chute, rather than just the size of the burrs.
The size of the burrs can have an effect on the grinding speed, usually bigger burrs equal faster grind time.
