“Upgrading” from Eureka Mignon E to a manual grinder… will I regret my decision?

The J-Max should work well with a Caravel.
If I remember correctly the most common basket for the Caravel only takes about 14g and as a lever it uses a coarser grind than pump machines.
I have a KinGrinder K6 and had a novice mate use it and my Faema Baby last week.
He was blown away by the simplicity and the quality of the espresso(he's coming off a low base- pod machine).
He is now off looking for a Robot and a hand grinder.

Whori how suitable would the Jmax be for pairing with a Caravel? It is one I have on my shortlist.
Sorry to detour the thread. I cannot post an outright question as newbie.

I’ve got an ECM Casa V. Not exactly silent but not the loudest either.Originally posted by t0fu View PostWhat is your machine if any? No point silently grinding and having a noisy pump. Personally I hand grind 14g in a jxpro for espresso and it doesn't bother me cos it takes under a minute but a friend with the same grinder used to grind 22g and the extra 30s or so really bothered him.

I think you'll be fine. I also had a Eureka Mignon E for a while, and remember the noise fondly... With only 1-2 espresso drinks a day, manual grinding should be no problem.
I have no experience with the grinders you've mentioned. However, I do have the 1zpresso J-Max grinder (step about the JX-Pro) and it is fantastic. About 30-40s to grind a 19g dose for espresso and the grind quality is excellent. And you really do need to spend a *lot* more to get something as good in an electric grinder.

The grind quality of those 3 you listed will all be better than the Mignon. They'll be a slightly different profile being small conicals rather than traditional flat, but better. Of those my pick would be the JX-Pro or a KINGrinder K6

“Upgrading” from Eureka Mignon E to a manual grinder… will I regret my decision?
Looking to update my current grinder (Eureka Mignon E) to something that is: very quiet (young baby, small apartment), single dose, low retention, good quality burrs.
Currently thinking (in order of potential cost): JX Pro, C40 or Kinu Classic.
Mainly drink 1-2 espresso-based black drinks per day on an ECM Casa V.
Will I regret my decision if I move “down” to a manual grinder? Can’t really justify the price for a niche or similar at this point.
