  • Fellow Ode 2.0 Burrs

These burrs have been released, should be getting sent to Kickstarter backers for free. You can also purchase them now from Fellow directly.

"If you know of someone who owns an Ode and would like to buy the Gen 2 Brew Burrs, please spread the word. Follow this link and use code KICKSTARTERBURRS for 30% off Ode Gen 2 Brew Burrs through 9/23/22. We are giving users who want to upgrade ONE FULL MONTH to buy at a discount!"

Search for "fellowproducts ode gen 2 brew burrs" and it will be one of the first half a dozen results

GRIND30OFF also works as a discount code. Mine are en route.

Early reports say they do not grind fine enough for espresso, which is predictable given Fellow never designed this grinder for espresso. So they are essentially a burr for anyone who wants to brew smaller amounts of coffee (like a single cup v60).

Wondering: if they will be more SSP MP clarity focused burrs or more universal sweeter/blended cup like LabSweet type burrs. I imagine latter but looking forward to hear field test reports

I'm also still waiting on mine. Should arrive in the next 1-2 business days. I'm itching to get them in, the v1 burrs are really only good for batch brew and cupping, everything else they just don't go fine enough for, that's after zeroing them too.

Mine arrived yesterday, but haven't installed them yet. Still comparing hand grinders at the moment.

Are these still worth getting if I already have SSP MP installed? I happen to have 2 Fellow Odes can could potentially do a side by side comparison.

I think no given that the MP burrs are so good, and probably offer more clarity than the v2 burrs, but it would be interesting to have a side by side comparison of the two if you have the cash to splash.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts level3ninja. I'm still rocking the v1 burrs at the moment, whilst they cut it for nearly everything there are some really light roasts that they can't go fine enough for.

Fellow's marketing definitely says they're a lot better, I guess we will see.

I just installed the v2 burrs that arrived today. I have not aligned or seasoned the burrs yet, I just installed them and quickly ran some coffee through to get a sense of grind size. I zeroed the burrs just off chirp (touching).

The attached picture shows 3 different coffee grinds. On the left is the v2 burrs with the dial all the way to the right, the middle is the v2 burrs on '1', and on the right is the v1.0 burrs on '1' for reference. I would estimate that what was '1' on grind dial for the v1.0 burrs is now '5' on the dial with the v2 burrs, but already noticing less fines. I was worried that by having burrs that grind finer it would mess with the grind size on the dial, but as you can see, going from minimum to maximum on the dial there is a massive change in grind size.

The v2 are certainly finer, they are not 'espresso fine' but I'm happy as I always had my dial on '1' and couldn't use it for pourer because the flow rate was too fast. I'm confident I'll get better results with the v2 burrs.

I'll season them over the weekend and might check the alignment too and see what that reveals.
