You are putting the lip of the dosing cup on top of the portafilter fork and not into the slot aren't you?

I’ve owned both the niche and the p64. Love the niche workflow. It’s simple predictable and easy to dial back in after cleaning. And loved the Decent stand on it. The sticky out on button is easy to flick.

Love the p64 coffee. I only drink espresso and it’s Nordic (super light) roast. The clarity it’s awesome. Workflow is fiddly. Chute is hard to get coffee into, portafilter has to be put at a certain angle so it doesn’t vibrate out. Their cup dosing doesn’t seem to fit right. But it’s not snowing enough to go back go niche

having said that if you’re drinking medium +, or drinking your coffee with milk I really doubt you’d find much different to justify the $ between the two. I know a Q taster who triangle tasted the niche vs P64 and couldn’t pick the odd one out.

having used a friends NIche, my EG-1 and my P100 workflow for me is P100.

very quick and easy to adjust grind setting just like the niche and the forks holding the portafilter work a treat with my heavy handled pesado portafilters, as they never shake off

The niche for the money though is hard to beat, as long as you enjoy the flavour profile it produces.

Now if the Kopi Deva folks do a conical I might go there.
What a wonderful time to be alive and independently comfortable.

Also, if you are a lover of medium to dark espresso, and you like a bit more body at the expense of a little clarity, the Niche is very hard to beat at any price.

Funny old thing is styling. I don't like the Lagom range for that reason. Love the Niche. But then again, I'm from Noosa where everything is white, bright and shiny :-)

And the P64 does indeed look like it's brilliantly put together. A class act.

Fair enough but I just don't like the styling of the Niche.
Also I don't think there is a single plastic component on my P64 it is a beautiful piece of engineering.
I really want a mid size conical grinder, the Lagom mini is just a bit small and the Key is a bit bigger/more expensive than I want.
    Maybe next year.

I would love the Lagom P64 but at more than twice the price of the Niche $849 AUD + shipping GST against P64 at $2122 AUD + shipping GST its a big ask against the Niche Zero the Niche puts up a great fight against it.

Not wishing to hijack the thread amberale but the answer is no. The P64 certainly looks like the work flow would be right up there with the Niche (or better?). Flat burrs versus conical of course.

To be fair too, I cheat with the Niche in regard to workflow by using the Decent portafilter holder which does away with the need to grind into the cup and that improves workflow over the standard cup option.

By the by, the EG-1 is pretty good for workflow too but the Niche is slightly ahead of it in my book because you don't have to lift the dial on the Niche before changing grind size, you simply spin it around to where you want it to be. Also the EG-1 forks have a really annoying mechanism for changing the portafilter fork height whereby you need to push a button in, while moving the forks up and down and those two actions fight against each other.

I recently trailed a DF64 for a month including the last couple of weeks SSP High Uniformity burrs. Have gone back to the Niche Zero as even with the 3D printed mods I can't live with the mess of the DF64 and I was also getting internal clogs.

Have to say the flavour is noticeably better with the DF64 but the body/mouthfeel on the Niche is killer.

P64 is on the list now but I will have to wait until I sell a few toys and their production catches up.

You haven't had a Lagom P64 though have you?

Yep. Mazzer Kony. The prototype Dave tested had Italmill and he strongly recommended Mazzer and Niche fortunately adopted his recommendation.
