Just curious, it took a while for the DF64 to make its way to Australia and has a slight markup, I’m wondering if any sponsors on this site have any info on when or if they will receive DF83 to stock. Currently to purchase through turin is around 1.2k aud, and then if you’re hit with a customs tax, and then the plug I believe is not an Australian plug so will need to be replaced over or just using an adapter. I’m very tempted on one over the DF64, purely just on the quality and bigger burr sets

Yes the DF83 will be coming to Australia and the first pre production sample arrived today. Pricing is yet to be confirmed due to the uncertainty and volatility in the AUD at the moment.Originally posted by FilthySudo View PostJust curious, it took a while for the DF64 to make its way to Australia and has a slight markup, I’m wondering if any sponsors on this site have any info on when or if they will receive DF83 to stock. Initial units for sale will be for commercial use whilst we navigate the Australian certification process.

Looks like alternative brewing and coffee parts have them listed at just under 1200. Not currently available but I think the pricing is what I expected.

I seen! That pricing is great if so! It was going to cost that, if not more to have it imported with an Au plug

Now i just have to decide whether i'm willing to sell up my NZ to have a play with this beast. For a ~$1200 grinder, its at such an intriguing price point - still much cheaper than a p64, but with larger 83mm burrs. Kind of gets you half way to a p100 :P

I am very tempted to compare and see which I prefer before I sold. I’ve been sold on a p64 once funds allow, but this is a lot nicer build quality than the current df64, and also the premium versions they have released, one is espresso only because of the lower burr adjustment and limited range

Any update on this please?Originally posted by AlternativeBrewing View PostWe're hoping to get them in before Christmas! Early to Mid December shipment is possible - though delays at this time are always expected. Getting my hands on one to test out this week - Looking forward to having it side by side to a DF64 to see the gap. Josh

Just got email to say it’s available now on AB website. Price looks like it’s gone up a bit from the original RRP

Yeah, just checked their site, is someone getting greedy?? And that is not necessarily AB…..but it is still a preorder with expected delivery of late Feb or early March. @ those dollars it brings the Lagom P64 back into the equation as if you add for SSP burrs the difference is not all that much…..

At that price I can’t consider purchasing it now. I was happy to pay $1200? But not 1700. That’s too much of a change of the original price for me. I may as well just look at a p64 like you said, or just get a df64 with ssp burrs

Agreed with you there Filthy. These would’ve been so popular at the original estimated price but no do not seem good value one bit.
I’ve been thinking of a DF64 also that I could switch my labsweets into and might just do that instead.

This 'new' price will no doubt send prospective DF83 owners looking at a direct from the factory overseas purchase. I saw them at 649USD plus 80USD freight (plus landing extras) the last time that I looked.

The AUS/NZ version of the DF83 will be a significantly better grinder out of the box - with a quick-release dosing cup adapter (like in the DF64) included, upgraded DLC burrs as standard, and an updated grind dial that is more accurate and with significantly better burr alignment from the factory.

Appreciate the response guys, but that $500 price change is not justifiable for me for these ‘upgrades’ over what overseas units offer. I won’t be buying a unit, but I’m sure plenty of others will be grabbing one! Thanks

Agreed, espresso outlet seems to do a great job for its USA customers of taking the DF grinders and improving them, and offers all the add ons and an alignment service, for much cheaper than what our retailers seem to be able to manage here.
