    Re: Easy Rocky Cleaning?

I use the Grindz cleaning product with my Rocky and it seems to work just fine.

How often should i clean my rock doser.  The normal pull apart full clean is time consuming.  Is there something simple that can be done on regular basis?
I just collected mine (Second Hand) and had to do a full service / clean...  Helped to understand the unit.

1: There is a guide here

    B: http://groups.google.com/group/alt.coffee/msg/f6abad357b9c0312
    C: http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1168811361/0

Thus last but not least; I am about to embark on this little exercise:  One such advancement is with the replacement of the top bean hopper cap with a click-clack lid (www.clickclack.com).  This allows for a burst of air to fill the chamber, and push the remaining grinds that are held in the grinding slot out, and into your portafilter.  This limits the problem of stale grinds at the start of your grinding or when they start to clump :-)

I am guessing that this could also be done on the EM0480 and others depending on the suitability of the Click Clack lid and availability.

Just like some others... I am off to Woolworths in the morning :-)
WORKS like a charm.... but my wife thinks its funny... Pumping the lid and holding the run switch in... But it gets good results.

Ooh, dont use rice argon - from all Ive read it will only damage your grinder.

If you want to use a product rather than strip down the machine (which would be the best option) then a product like Grindz would be the next best option. Sponsors, Coffee Parts, have grinder cleaning tablets that are safe to use...

    Thanks Mal

Is there a cleaner i can run through rocky?? Ive seen some posts about rice, but that seems dubious.

    Gday Argon,

The best thing Ive found is to use a small paintbrush (9-12mm) to loosen up everything you can get to and then vacuum this out with some small vac attachments that you see for sale in $2.00 stores from time to time, or maybe a Godfreys if theres one close to you...

Regarding frequency, I do the brush-out after every session (grind on demand) and vac out weekly on the LSM but I would probably adopt this schedule regardless of which grinder I owned.

    Cheers,
    Mal.
