very similar to me on K6 - between 46 and 50 depending on coffee for VST 18 and BDB, more like 50-52 for picopresso with a double la pav basket.

I use 48 on my K6 for my picopresso, but this same setting choked my synchronika. So I’d have a stab and say somewhere in the high 50’s to low 60’s is a good start point. I’m not sure how different the k4 and k6 burr grind will differ, but hope that helps!

Looks like the recommended settings in the manual are way off. Started at 50 and it was basically like Turkish coffee. Couldn't even get a shot out. Currently at 70 but still think I need to go coarser.

I had a K4 quite a while ago but don’t have it anymore, so have to go by memory. You didn’t mention your dose size which is critical in working out a grind setting. From memory for a 16-18g dose I think I used a 40-45 click range give or take. The K4 works well for med-dark roast beans.

I'm using a Bambino Plus at the moment.Originally posted by amberale View PostHi Fergy what machine?
I have a K6 set at 50 clicks when used with a Faema Baby (think Robot).
I go to around 70 for a Strietman and down to 40ish for a Bianca.
All with med-dark beans.

Kingrinder K4 starter settings.
Looking to grind some espresso with my K4 and the instructions list settings of 30-60 clicks. I then see people talking about using settings as high as 80 so I don't know where is a decent starting point without wasting coffee.
Does anyone have any experience with the grinder and have any advice on starter settings such as start closer to 60 than 30 or vice versa.
usually using five sense darkhorse beans if that helps.
