Hi all,
Hubby currently has an Ascaso Mini i2 and uses it for Moka pot and Aeropress. I have a nanopresso. We both happily drink cafe coffee but would like to start exploring home espresso. I just bought a used Rancilio Silvia to play with, but seriously considering purchasing an HX machine in the near future. He is pretty wedded to manual brew methods at the moment.
Hubby has a significant birthday coming up and I’d like to get him/us a new (or preloved) grinder. The issue I have with the Ascaso is that it is so loud and pretty impossible to adjust grind size between manual brew and espresso. I like how solid and compact it is.
I’d like a grinder that could easily shift between grind sizes but open to keeping the Ascaso and having two grinders (not ideal as we have limited space).
I’m looking at Compak K3 Touch Advance, Mahlkonig x54 or Vario, maybe d54. If having two grinders then perhaps one of the Eurekas either Mignon Specialita or Atom. It might be better to switch the Ascaso to espresso as we aren’t doing too much of this and get a better, quiet grinder for Aeropress/Moka pot.
I’d appreciate any thoughts on these options, either one or two grinders, and are there any other quiet, versatile grinders I should look at?
Thanks,
Verity
