  • Fiorenzato D63

I have just bought one of these beasts. Typical story - dont really NEED a grinder this size, wasnt REALLY looking for one, but the opportunity popped up so.. well theres now one sitting on my kitchen bench.

The one I bought is new- or, rather, unused -appears it may have been used as a display model. At about the same price as a Lux, I couldnt NOT get it. :-/

Its a big grinder (compared to your average domestic unit, and sitting next to the Lelit!) - weighs 16kg, 63mm burrs, about 630mm high, and very solid. The hopper is 2kg - I dont think Ill ever fill a fraction of it - well, it is a commercial grinder (will think about substituting that with something else). Appears to be about the same standard as a Super Jolly. I havent used it yet (been looking at it, scratching my head about where to start ). Its an automatic, so I think Ill be using the on/off switch like a manual grinder.

Does anyone have any experience with these / know anything about them?

The instruction manual is in Italian (and appears pretty skimpy anyway). Ive done a bit of a google search and cant find one in English. Sent an email to Fiorenzato - havent heard back.

Thats a dangerous way to justify these things mate - trust me I ended up with a La Cimbali DRM recently also at the price of a Lux..... to go with my Super Jolly and Rocky...... for my house. :-[

So that aside ( ;D) - good stuff mate, nicccce! The first thing I do when a 2nd hand grinder falls into my hands is take off the top burr carrier and have a look-see inside. You can get a pretty good view of how much cleaning you may have to do, and what the condition of the burrs are like.

I know its not always a good sign of actual usage but whats that counter read?

Havent taken it apart yet, Dan. I dont like doing that unless I have a good idea about what Im doing (and I dont with this thing yet - trying to get any information I can first).

It appears totally unused - no signs of any use at all - spotless. (Was advertised as new/demo with 12 months warranty!! My guess is it was a display model.) Counter reads 9899 - so either it wasnt set at zero in the factory, its going backwards, or has had a lot of tyre kickers giving the doser a click!! ;D

        Good pickup Greg.

        Looks nice.

I used the same excuse when I got the Gino Rossi "I couldnt NOT get it" for the price.

        BIG init?

        2kg hopper?
        The Ginos is only 1.2kg.

              Re: Fiorenzato D63

Full-on commercial grinders are nothing if not imposing..... Gotta admire the build quality on these things though and the quality of the output. 8-)

My LSM is a very similar unit to yours Greg and theres no way I would part with it now; it just does too good a job. Couple that with a very fine thread on the static burr carrier and steps that are only about 2-3 degrees of circumferential arc, and you have an awesome piece of gear.

I think youll grow to love the Fiorenzato as much as I love my LSM....

              Mal.

                Re: Fiorenzato D63

                Thanks Mal,

The T80 seems similar to the D63 - similar (same?) 63mm burrs and 68mm hopper throat diameter, but scaled down (apx 12-13 kg, 1-1.2 kg hopper, etc). I understand the T series was superseded by the Doge (D) series, but I cant find much info on them or anyone who has one.

Your enthusiasm for a solid grinder (specifically your LSM) is infectious, Mal. I want to find out as much as I can about mine now. Thanks.

                Greg
