I have also backed the 78s. This will be my first single-dose grinder (I currently have a Eureka Specialita which I have been pretty happy with so far) I prefer to try out a single-doser but Mrs Solrak isn't super keen on the extra steps involved with single dosing. I'm hoping the 78s will win her over!

DF have been undercutting other manufacturers with the DF64 series and the DF83. Now it looks like Timemore are doing a DF on DF. Insanely good prices for what looks like quality and design features that would previously been hard to find in grinders twice the price. Haven't ordered but only because I have my hands full with other grinders at the moment. Timemores new grinders will be truly great for the prosumer community. Congrats to all who backed the launch.

Correct me if I am wrong. The difference between 78s and 64s are motor power (watt, rpm) and bur size, while all other features and build quality are same.

You are correct. The 64S can also take other manufacturers 64mm burr sets where there are only the supplied ones for the 78S
The other issue is that if you like lightly roasted beans these can stall the motor on the 64S unless you use high speed - not an issue with the 78SLast edited by JavaB; 28 March 2023, 09:34 PM.

My understanding is that the general build quality has been noted as being slightly better with 078/78s models.

So who's gonna buy a 78s, DF 83 & Niche 83 for a big comparison? All in the name of science.....anyone?

Not the Timemore. Price is great and it's probably a top grinder but I have recently developed a taste for burr swapping and I can't see too many alternatives for the 78s burrs. But sign me up for the DF83 and Duo comparision. But I'm open to someone sending me their 78S and I'll pop it into the mix.

That would be great. It should ship easily enought Solrak so long as you keep the original box. Most of the packaging these days is quite well done. If you are OK to ship it here, I'll treat it real well and I'm happy to pay for shipping it back to you. If that happens it would be a great three way comparision.

Version 3.2 is an Australian only version as it is a revised de-clumper from V3. It performs better than than V3 and significantly better than V4. V4 de-clumper is a bit of a dud in all honesty.Originally posted by Tsaba1 View PostI am feeling the same conundrum. The DF64 is currently on sale at Alternative brewing and I am tempted to buy it but it is the version 3.2 and not the version 4 which is the latest model. I am questioning whether the version will matter and whether the DF64 will be good bang for my buck or should I explore the Timemore version and wait.

Tsaba1 can I ask how long have you had the grinder for? What we have found is that with use the silicone declumper softens and allows for the ground coffee to flow through. By removing the declumper on a DF64 just be mindful it will be messier and I would recommend using the RDT method minimise that mess.
