    Re: Super Jolly problems

My concern about giving it a paint job is the finish wont be as durable as the powder coat, in time it could look worse, plus for a good job the decals need to be removed including the serial number decal, the others can go but I prefer not to lose that one, masking is not a option you can always pick it. As for colour if I was to go ahead I have never thought of Cranberry, I was thinking more a Silver which we have kicking around, or maybe Ferrari Red which is popular at the moment, Cranberry would be different.

You can get a name plate
Stamp the serial number on it and pop rivet it on the underside
If you can remove and re-use the serial sticker you can add that to the plate as proof

Then you have a free hand to do anything even a Mazzer Mural

        Re: Super Jolly problems

There are some superb powder-coat colours available now "vr"; our local bloke has a huge range of metallics, candy colours, clear coats.... You name it. Also, there is always the "2-Pack" option. Some nice choices available there too... 8-)

          Re: Super Jolly problems

Two pack would be preferable. Removing the stator for powder coating looks to be quite a job going by a thread I googled(below), the second last post links to the finished project. 8-)

            Re: Super Jolly problems

            Hi again "vr"...

If you could strip the grinder frame down as much as possible, you would be able to drop the frame with motor stator into a motor rewind shop or auto-sparky shop and ask them to press the stator out for you. Should be a very straight forward task for them and you may even be able to persuade them to do it for you for a bagobeans... Worth a try anyway,

              Re: Super Jolly problems

It turns out the silver I can get is two pack, that will be good enough for me, plus the price is right , also avoids the hassle of removing the stator and will look good as well.

I have been useing it and I prefer the results of the Rocky :-?, the SJ tastes under extracted, though the grind is very consistent, it did a 30 second plus drip extraction without choking so it certainly can give a consistent grind but it lacks flavour, a bit slow to on a espresso grind as well, I am suspecting the donated grind plates, maybe they are generating a bit of heat and upsetting things, I think I need to fit new plates.

It is possible they dont have genuine mazzer burrs in them. I find the SJ (Played around a little on one) superior to the Rocky - speed, better grind, and a doser that works (for home use still would want to mod it so it sweeps clean)

I think your right which is why I am trying to buy a pair of genuine burrs around Dandenong.

Contact coffee parts. Im pretty sure they sell genuine burs and the shipping doesnt cost that much.

Yep - go genuine (from what I have read).

                            Re: Super Jolly problems

The new Plates have been installed and what a difference, faster and with a better tasting result, the old ones were well worn, grinding away rather than cutting. When I inspected the grinder I felt the plates needed replacing, however I had underestimated the price by about $20.00, I must have had a $US price in my head at the time, but its all turned out well in the end, new bearings and new genuine plates, Massimo is now working as Luigi intended.

In this case I dont know if the CP plates are genuine or copies, I wouldnt like to imply they were inferior to Mazzer branded plates its just for peace of mind knowing it will perform at its best I decided to ante up and pay the extra.
