Hi all,
I bought this grinder a few weeks back & have been struggling a bit since. Just FYI, its the first grinder Ive ever bought -- I dont know too much about coffee only that I like a good cup & want to be able to brew one.
Most people seem to recommend the grind setting of around 23-25 for a plunger, but Im finding that I shift between 20/21, and even then Im not quite sure Im getting what other people might call a good grind. Is this normal that my grind should be set so fine? Does it indicate a problem with my machine?
Any setting higher than 21 and the coffee is usually too weak with a normal-high amount of coffee in the plunger. I havent tried just putting a crazy amount of coffee in the plunger simply because I dont think I should have to. Any setting lower than 20 and there is a significant amount of sediment at the bottom of the cup (is this normal for a plunger?) & it often tastes quite bitter. Mind you, it does taste slightly bitter at even 20/21 -- Im starting to wonder if I just have a weird pallet.
Another question I have is that I often find a few flakes of little white/yellowish, bark-chip looking things in the ground coffee. Im not sure if this is normal or not.
Anyway, thanks for any help. Ive been browsing these forums for the past few weeks but this is my first post
