This set up was based on Grumpygeeks original idea (credit were credit is due)

It was extremely tempting option as i had the parts lying around
So far this has been free..
-Motor is from an early MK1 vw golf
-Bowl is from my kitchen
-Paddle is made from a stainless steel stubby cooler

motor runs at around 50rpm and has plenty of torque. It can can also be switched to about 30rpm

Its a bit rough but i didnt want to invest too much time

Not sure on the final set up. I guess the pics arent that good, it currently supports itself on its 3 legs (2 of which are the bent support bracket from the wiper mecahnism). It doesnt move when i let it spin with about 250g of beans for around 40 minutes during a test. The motor is fairly heavy.  I still need to buy a heat gun and organise a stand for that, probably will make it all into one unit. Will post up some pics of teh setup and its first roast in the next couple of weeks.

that is very inspiring, i have access to heaps of car parts so using wiper motors and stuff is ingenious

I have a similar tree stand to this picture
I used it for fresh cut pine trees for Christmas

If you can source one from a $2 store then the stand is all sorted out  

If you lived in Brisbane I would give my stand to you

KK I just read about your roaster, it looks very nice, makes mine look extremely ghetto style. I think long term i will move over to something like yours, but for now lll give this a go. Had a look at heat guns today, not sure which one Ill end up getting.

KK I just read about your roaster, it looks very nice, makes mine look extremely ghetto style. I think long term i will move over to something like yours, but for now lll give this a go. Had a look at heat guns today, not sure which one Ill end up getting.

My roaster was originally designed to be used with 2 heat sources
1) Turbo Oven or
2) Heat gun

If you like your heat gun use it as the heat source in conjunction with my roaster design
It will produce a beautiful roast

Great idea KK... A big motivation of home roasting is to use what you have and be creative. I like the idea of a breadmaker, mostly cause we got one for free. Definitely post some pictures of your progress.

It would be great to see this turn into some kind of all in one unit!

Sorry guys, i have fallen in love with another design and the motor will transplanted into that...... Koffee Kosmo blew me away today with his Turbo Oven based roaster
