Re: Please show me your Corretto thermocouple mounts
How accurate is the probe when only the tip of it is exposed ot the beans?

Re: Please show me your Corretto thermocouple mounts
ps i now have teh CS data logger, that has a longer probe in comparison to the jaycar model, so the clearence is not about 1 cm from the paddle.

Re: Please show me your Corretto thermocouple mounts
I do as per WSully but at the end of the bread maker and my HG sits over the top of the control panel at the other end of the unit.
I have also drilled 3 different heights depending on volume of beans being roasted.

Re: Please show me your Corretto thermocouple mounts
Below is some pics of how i did it, it sits horizontal about 7 mm above the base of teh pan, and about 1 cm clear of the paddle, because the plastic part remains outside the plastic housing of the BM, heat is not a problem, hope this helps

Re: Please show me your Corretto thermocouple mounts
I have drilled a hole in the breadpan in the furthermost corner from where I mount the heatgun then pushed the thermocouple bead through about 10mm. To hold the thermocouple in place I use some gaffer tape on the outside of the breadpan. The gaff melts after a roast, but it holds for the duration of 2 back to back roasts. I get consistent readings on my multimeter this way, otherwise the bead moves too much and the readings jump around.

Please show me your Corretto thermocouple mounts
Hi again. Ive been HG/BMing for about 2 years now, but only just got around to buying a thermocouple thermometer (Jaycar QM1602). It came with a wire/bead thermocouple, but I also bought a probe style TC.
What are peoples advice on the best mounting point, keeping in mind:
a) the roaster is a dedicated roaster, no bread making (ie no issues with drilling holes)
b) I typically remove the pan to dump beans, so I dont want to mess with that too much
c) the plastic handle of the probe will melt at typical roasting temperature...
I was thinking of punching a hole in the pan with a nail, then bending it over to form an angled hole so that I could drop the probe down into the pan at an angle, and the handle of it comes up in the gap between pan and oven.
Or is it just easier to drill in through the covers horizontally?Tags: None
