Re: Please show me your Corretto thermocouple mounts

I am about to start setting up a corretto. Just got a multimeter, Is there a issue with using the probe that come with it ie. the one that looks like a bit if string as apposed to getting a rod?
    Cheers

you might find the beans will bust the soldered end of the "bead" on the TC as they get rubbed on it going past, but it might also last a long time depends on the "weld"

you could fashion a small cover for it but then will not get direct contact with the bean mass.

probes are $10 from beanbay, +- 12 at jaycar and about the same at DSE

If you do a search you might find a picture of mine.

Basically though I drilled 2 holes in the breadpan.
One to feed the wire though and one to take a screw to hold the wire in place with a washer.

If you feed the wire in flat against the side of the pan (not touching) pointing in the direction of the bean flow, it doesnt get damaged.

The screw poking into the pan can also offer some protection to the bead as it will be hit by beans before they reach the bead.

Mine is drilled in through the casing and pan. I have siliconed in a piece of aluminum tubing to help guide the probe in when being inserted.

I have my thermocouple mounted in the corner of the bread pan using a bayonet-style thermocouple.
