  • Corretto Recommendations

    Hi All

Im moving into the wonderful world of roasting and looking at starting my own corretto setup. A question for you all,

    1. Does anyone have any recommendations for Bread Makers that are worth looking out for and are ideally suited for roasting? (I dont mind buying new  either)

    Cheers
    Damijan

      Damijan,
I would consider the bowl size and your needs.
Generally the smaller bowl size is approx 12cm square: it is ideal for 200 to 600g roasts and can do a tad higher with some wooden spoon intervention.

I dont use a larger sized bowl, so the following comments are considered roughl: but The larger bowl is about 20 x 12 and is better suited to 500 -1000g roasts.

Thanks for that Mal I saw the stickys after i posted, there is alot of information there that i am busy studying.

THanks for the bowl size recommendations, i was looking to do a max of 500g at a time so that helps with the bowl selection.

In terms of places to buy used bread makers, ebay can be quite good if you find the right model and in good condition. I managed to get mine for $30 delivered and it was in perfect condition.

With such cheap parts readily available, a correto with thermoprobe is pretty hard to beat in terms of value for money roasting, quality of roast and volume!

            Re: Corretto Recommendations

My breville BB-200 handles 500g (green) roasts easy I run a 2 speed 1600w heat gun and use  a camera tripod to lift the gun up and down a bit for "control"

i modded it to a direct switch to the motor, as the dough cycle was to short

it has a deep square pan, not like the rectangle big loafs. It can be pushed out to 600g but I feel its best around the 500g roast

I also have a "big loaf" but have never used it, when my Hgun dies i was going to upgrade to a variable temp gun +- 2000w and use it then. if i dont finish my KKTO or other ideas....

Check out your local slavos vinnes  etc
if your in a capital city try "gumtree or freecycle" & place a wanted ad

              Re: Corretto Recommendations

Dont buy a new one, ask around friends and family for anyone who doesnt want theirs and still has the book for it. You just need one with a fast knead cycle of around 21 minutes, and for your proposed 500g green bean load youll need a pan size double that volume (ie that will take 1kg greens - about a 700g bread loaf volume).

I can vouch for the Breville BB270..... program 10 will run constantly for 30 min.
