    Hey guys,

Im wondering if any of you very lucky roaster people would be able to help me.

Im in need of a couple of batches (a week apart) of beans that is really pushing the boundaries of my 2 X Behmors - 12 kg green each batch to be precise......

    So........

I was wondering if someone, preferably on the northern side, would be magnanimous enough to let me hire their HG for a roast or two, under their eagle eyed supervision and tuition of course.

The extra benefit for me is a bit of training for what could have potential down the track.

Im also happy to trade for the experience, nice (and I mean nice) reds or whites from my mates winery as a starting point......

Anyway, if one of you gents is so inclined, I would love to see a PM from you.

    Thanks

    Chris

      Hi Chris

Prob cant help you out much, mines a 2kg HG and as for experience, well Im a beginner too. Thought Id say hi anyways as Im in Sydney, Hornsby area.

You need someone with experience that will know what drop temp and profile to apply to your beans. For a 12 kg load youll need someone with a 15 kg machine or bigger but that is in commercial roasting territory and they prob wont be interested. Perhaps Dennis from Cuppa Coffee may like lots of the very best reds. If you come down to a 5 kg machine a few CSers may have one - e.g. Anthony from Wine-of-the-bean had a 5 kg machine.

Some of my roasts dont get dropped at the right temperature, and I usually have to guess at a profile and even then controlling the gas flow is tricky.

        Hi Mike,

Wasnt looking to do the 12 in one batch as such, just need to roast 12kg of green faster than 400-450gm per roast thats all, hence the inquiry.

My reckoning is a HG2 will take 6 roasts or so while my poor little Behmors take around 24 - 28 roasts for the equivalent

And the generous person was WotB

Offered up his Solar 2kg for a 12kg green session and had a great time. Hope he did too. ;D

Impressive piece of kit and some great roasted beans.

Certainly hope he enjoys the Zin and the Shiraz.

          Thanks again Anthony

Cheers, it was good to keep the roaster ticking over. Six straight batches without a hitch. Absolute consistency, what more can you ask for?

I got a couple bottles of nice red...WIN!

            Thanks for dropping by Chris.
