a friend has built me a version of a corretto, basically the heat gun is the black box, the breadmaker has been altered to just spin, the lid provides quite good insulation and due to this the chaff actually blows into the gap between the walls of the breadmaker and the container the beans are roasted in, then post roast i can just dispose of the chaff either through a whole at the front or pour it out.

the only problem at present is i am used to a better heat gun that tells you what it is pumping out and what setting it has been set to, however i have been using it based on hours on a clockface and getting reasonabe results, except after 1st crack where i get little control at present.

the pipe out the top was for chaff to blow out but it doesnt really happen, most probably due to the fact that the heat is blown in through another pipe inside this pipe and inside the breadmaker this prevents the chaff from escaping this way.

Nice, I like the "Hot" warning

and yes, blow air in a pipe and it probably aint coming out the same one! Youve got an inbuilt chaff collector!

Looks fantastic. The only thing that would make it better is a peek a boo window in the top

he is a legend, he visited me around xmas/new year and wanted to take the corretto setup and make it a little tidier/more elegant. i have no idea about the rebuild but it looks impressive to me.

here are 3 roasts, very similar ends! however after the first 1 i tried to avoid the same thing happening. each time it hovered around the 0-1 degree a minute and i had to boost it using the dial as i did not want to go backwards (i dont even know if it ruins the roast actually), with the result being either no movement or heaps.

i must admit i lift the lid to check the beans even though im getting the data through the probe! a window would be good

Interesting innovation on the conventional Corretto there "denki"...

Your friend is definitely a keeper, as they say.

One way that you could use to try to control the temperature in the roast chamber, would be to employ a small waste gate from the tube feeding in from the heatgun. That way, you could just leave the fixed output heatgun running flat out and control the amount of heated air entering the roast chamber. This way, youre not throttling the heatgun output and risking overheating of same but rather dumping excess energy out into the atmosphere.

Should be easy enough to rig something up if theres enough room between the discharge nozzle of the heatgun and where it enters the down-tube...

Those profiles look pretty good for a first time with a new setup though; excellent stuff mate 8-)

                Mal.

Your friend has done a fab job.
Your corretto is a beauty, well thought out, great attention to detail and very professional workmanship.
There has obviously been many skilled hours put into this unit. Im envious.
I would suggest that likely the best way to vent chaff may be through the floor of the roast chamber; some attention to sealing around the lid may also help with venting the chaff.
