  • What about halogen? Anyone tried?

Similar to the LG oven, I was wondering how using halogen bulbs would work for roasting.  Any articles etc. on this?

Im not talking about the digirosto pro1500, but a more home made version.

Yes it has been done before with a combination of household yard halogen lights the ones encased in aluminium and a breadmaker

Some Turbo Ovens also use a Halogen Lamp as the Heat Source plus the added benefit of plenty of light illuminating the roast....

I think that you will find that the Behmor uses a quartz halogen heat source, and at less than $400 on BeanBay it would be pretty hard to beat

No mate, its a Quartz Tube Infra-Red Element using a filament of probably a Tungsten alloy, or maybe Nichrome, etc.

Unlike a QH/QI lamp, where the internal space is lightly pressurised with an inert gas that is non-reactive with the filament material, the IR Quartz Tube is usually filled with N2.

            Mal.
