Thoughts on a Copper Drum in a 1 - 2 kg roaster

Ok here is a thought, for a 1 - 2 kg roaster what if the drum was made of copper. I know it may be a little more expensive but if you get the results would it not be worth it.

I have just tried the fz-rr 700 baby roaster and it gave me a result better than anything I have roasted to date. I have been a home roaster for almost 4 years now, spent a small fortune on different roasters yet this baby roaster has blown me away.

I am very happy I decided to purchase one as now I know what I have to achieve using my 1kg roaster. Thus is why I have put the question out there, how would a copper drum handle a 1 - 2 kg roaster.

Like all home roaster I know it will only be a matter of time before I will do this but I thought I would see what other home roasters thoughts were. Maybe some have already tried this.

Well, Ive got limited experience with the roasting thing:

But with my 3" tube by 100mm long I can roast about 120g. So, for 2 kg I guess youre going to need about 7 litres.

Copper tubing comes in an 8" dia, which would give you about 7L at about 220mm long. Thats almost "square" (length=diameter)and would fit over a gas ring reasonably easily.

Theres no reason why you couldnt use the same general method of construction as I did. I doubt you could use removable end-caps at that diameter. Youd probably have to make a separate inspection opening/door.

Sounds like a project!
