Re: Anyone have a Toper TKMSX 5 gas roaster? Im after electrical details

I visited and subsequently dealt direct with the manufacturer when I bought my TKMSX 5 and received no conflicting info from them whatsoever, they are very very experienced & know exactly what they are doing, although there can be occasional misunderstandings as there is a considerable language barrier depending on who you are corresponding with. You need to clarify everything to a point where you are satisfied they have understood you and vice versa. I organised all my own mods here (to comply with Oz legislation for my locality), and they delivered exactly what I ordered and what they said they would.

That said, if you are buying through an Australian agent you should go with what the agent says and forget what the manufacturer tells you, only because the Aus agent will know in what way they are modifying the machine for compliant local delivery within Australia. In essence, if you are dealing with the agent but seek independent advice from the manufacturer, you shoot yourself in the foot at the same time as making life for the agent unnecessarily harder.

ie if you buy through the agent, go with their advice. If you buy direct from the manufacturer, you are the one that needs to know what you want to specify and they will deliver what you want. ie2......you import direct and you take the responsibility. The machine is available with single OR 3 phase motors, and they will deliver whichever you want.

    FWIW.....mine works perfectly.

its unfortanate to have received so many mixed messages from the manufacturer
Roasters are frequently (Typically even?) wired or rewired in the destination country and not in the country of manufacture of the frame/mechanical assembly. Hence the local importer/seller is usually the best source for the information you seek.

    Hi Guys

This query is for those that either have this roaster or are familiar with this brand specifically. Ive been looking at buying this roaster, however Im receiving conflicting information as to the electrical power required to operate the motors. The differneces are quite varied. One set of figures is 32 amps 3 phase the other 15 amps 1 phase. Now Im getting this information from two souces, the reseller in Australia and Toper direct respectively. Im still quizzing both parties but just thought if anyone has this roaster already I could get some reliable information. TIA.
15A 240V should be ample. They may well produce 3 phase models but thats massive overkill in a 5kg unit. My 5 and 10kg Has Garantis are both 15A.

The important thing is a great quality gas train and sound, robust electricals. Gas and burner configuration are critical and there are good roasters and terrible roasters which to the untrained eye look pretty much identical.

Make sure you do your homework (especially on Type B certification and associated costs) and sample the possible contenders yourself. A bad roaster can save a you a few bucks and then ruin tonnes of green beans at massive expense.

    Good luck in your search!

    Chris
