    Yes mate, there are a number of methods and instruments that can be used for this. Probably the most practical instrument would be a Refractometer....

    Used for measuring the refractive index of a sample containing a solution of sugars (and many other compounds).... Dont know how this information could then be used by a commercial roastmaster though. Probably take an awful lot of experimentation just to determine its usefulness.... :-?

    I wonder is there a device that can give readings of suger content on the green beans a roaster is about to roast, and would that in anyway make his job easier or give a better result?
