I agree with what Attilio has said here- however having traveled to Taiwan quite a few times in recent years- I must say their coffee culture is quite well developed for SE Asia- and growing very rapidly. There are some full blown coffee snobs (see pictures of a micro boutique in Tainan- and another very large emporium)- and many niche coffee specialty stores stocking the whole range of domestic e61 machines, as well as many different manual brewers.
Also equipment manufacturers are now exporting coffee machinery in increasing quantity to the Chinese market which is expanding almost exponentially... One of my Taiwan contacts mentioned that in the last year Taiwan has seen a big and unexpected increase in trade (not just coffee equipment) - as many buyers move away from Chinese suppliers- wary of quality control issues and also price increases.
Having said all that I know nothing about commercial roasters...
