    Re: GeneCafe CBR-101 (i Rosto)

    Andy,

    Any update on availability?

Even if all we can get is the one with analog nobs, it would still be nice...

Funny you ask... I sent an email yesterday to the factory to findout the progress (or maybe just find it!). I await timezone overlap for an answer.

I agree about the "knob" version too. The action of this roaster looks good but I guess they are having a few teething or supply problems at the moment.

We await with baited breath and green beans at the ready. ;D

Seems the url for the roaster no longer exists.

        Any ideas where it went?

The english web site is no more but the roaster does exist.

It is currently in customs awaiting clearance (nearly a week!!!!)

          Latest news is:

PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE;BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE
A QUARANTINE WAS REQUESTED BY A GOVERNMENT REGULATORY AGENCY

          M085 5889 659

I can only assume that there were some beans in with the roaster

At least is moving around again after sitting still for most of a week.

Or maybe they found a horseshoe bat inside.

They probably cant figure out what it is... :

                      Hi Andy,

I checked out the web site and found it very informative (not too much engrish!). I note that the model is either 110v or 220v.
I presume the model you tested was 220 volts. Given that we have 240 volts here in Oz, did it have any noticeable effects on the machines performance?

                      Cheers,

                      Louis

Will this produce a brighter profile than the hottop? It is essentially a fluid-bed roaster ... so does that mean that the profile really is too long?

                        Cheers,

                        Luca

I think (hope) the factory is talking to a distributor at the moment.... but no real news or dates for you yet.

tis a good web site, yeah.

The 220 volt is an interesting question. The "digital stuff" will run through regulators and it wont matter.

The heater would be an issue though and I noticed on my one (when it was pulled to bits for the pictures) that the heater had a handwritten 240v on it (as did the power supply).

I expect its an issue they are aware of and more importantly are active to avoid.

Which is what I thought.... until I used it.

It isnt really a fluid bed at all. Beans are not blown or suspended like they are in a popper. Air is used to heat the drum and the beans in it... it just so happens that the drum on this is stainless steel and glass.

The glass gets hot (no I didnt touch it!!!) and the stainless centre plate would get hotter. The "bean to vessel contact" would result in similar temps in both devices and I think although it uses a fan to blow hot-air it is closer to the drum than the popper.
