Coffee Mogul, that is one serious set up. Very nice indeed.  With that sort of consumption  -- about 400 kg in 9 months --  you must be seriously overdosing or own a cafe.

I married an Italian, with a large coffee consuming family. I also roast for some friends and we all have commerical 1 group espresso machines, so it makes consuming the coffee easy, not to mention fun !

geez louise Wayne, you certainly know how to give somone roaster envy

anyway...I have a very similar setup to yourself...
Dennis, we have almost identical set-ups. Go back to the shop that you got the $7 colander from and buy a $10 set of s/s mixing bowls. Give the two small ones to your partner for cooking and sit the colander in the largest one. Gives you much better heat retention.

While youre at the shop grab a black mesh type wastepaper basket. Find a large metal something to cover it (I use an old carving tray) and youve got something to shake the beans cool in. Credit has to go to Freddy, a long time member of this site for that idea.

I have used 2 to 2.5 bottles full of gas since June last year, and have roasted about 350 to 400 kgs (green) of coffee. I am very pleased with its efficiency.

I am using a 5 kg Has Garanti batch roaster made in Turkey. I am extremely happy with the results. I think these machines represent great value if you take you coffee, and roasting seriously.

    here are some pics.

Im using a Heat Gun, Saucepan and whisk. With my pot plant cooler/colander setup to cool.

Im still waiting for a Bread Machine, but should have one soon. Am scamming one from someone at work - if and when she finally brings it in. No idea if it will need to be modded.
Anyway, without it I just keep telling myself that Im building up my arm muscles.
