    Same as yours,
The folks a 8unnings are a little sleepy first thing on a Saturday, that is the best time to hit.
Stroll in, shoulders slightly hunched, answer all questions directly and shrug shoulders periodically.
Shake head and point to the "14 day first use fail" clause and wait.......

Opps almost forgot, no I wasnt half way through, I had just finished a very light roast of some PERU Grace estate when I backed up for some more PNG Peaberry(I think I have a Peaberry Addiction I have even separated my own beans to isolate the Peaberries), I took a look at the silent gun and noticed the element was red hot but the blower was not on, needles to say by the time Id switched the bugger off it was too late.

The whole point though of leaving the lid up, or off, is to be able to see the roast in all its smokey smelly snappy cracky poppy gloriousness :-)

If one closes it it changes the setup completly. How would you heat them?

    Right you are!
The vacuum idea has been shelved for the moment. My SO wants me to thankyou for saving us the cost of a new vac and the pesky health problems associated with inhaling the burning plastics. :-[
I will not resi however, I have to contribute at least one mod,,,,,back to the drawing board

    Belinda....

You are in need of a coffee..... maybe several... tis JaveB (although Grendel and I often think alike, both live in Perth, frequent Epic.... maybe hes my alter ego )

Yep, the noise is so much less outdoors and the chaff makes great mulch too....

My lid doesnt have a light so it was just a matter of undo the hinge bolts and lift off the lid....
Bit nasty having power to remove.

    Oooops sorry there Java. [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Actually the last thing I needs a coffee. Im trying to break out of a vicious nightshift cycle.
I need some serious sleeping tablets

Maybe Im psychic and Grendel did take his lid off [smiley=happy.gif]

In fact, as it would happen I just happen to have a little snap of inside roasting, as is my way ;D

Very noisy as it echoed off the door and up through the wooden floorboards.

Oh well, the beans still roasted, but the 2nd crack was hard to hear :-?

    So true there Grendel. :

I roasted inside the other week as we had a rare rainy night and I had all but run out of beans.

But I did it in the kitchen door with the door open, the fan behind it blowing all the smoke and chaff outside.

It twas noiser than normal. A lot noiser. But it had to be done.

Did you have any trouble removing the lid? with the wire for the light and all?

    Exactly Belinda....

Ah the glorious roasting smell, the snap crackle and pop..... the view of those little babies slowly sun tanning....

I removed the lid totally to enjoy the experience even more.....

but I wouldnt recommend anyone roast inside ;D ;D (well unless you live in a barn or something)

Sfunny a mate round on tuesday night suggested the hole through the lid idea - I was wondering about melting plastic round the edges though. . .

Too true Java. The fan works best to blow away the chaff and smoke.

Unless of course the vacuum is located a bit away from the BM, but still the noise .....

theres enough already with the BM and HG.

Yeah I thought I would decomission the view window and drill a hole saw size chunk outta the plastic and insert my noisy vacuum cleaner nozzle. 8-)
Mmmmm.... that plastic window - unlike Belindas pyrex glass lid- may not be real happy at the 200 deg plus temps... (As a breadmaker the window wouldnt get much above 100C - you even see steam condense on it during baking).

Also are you planning to suck (smoke and chaff +beans :) from the bowl... if so the plastics used in vacuum cleaner hoses, fans and cases also wont be too happy about the temp of the air being sucked in..... might not remain noisy for too long ---- Scotty we have reactor melt down

Most plastics- when heated above their "working temp"- give off toxic fumes as well. Vacuum cleaners have only been engineered for normal room temps

If you are planning to reverse the vacuum to cool the beans.... you wont have that problem.
