Re: Bread Maker mods - Details?

Seems like the Breville Range of BMs are the go....

I got myself a Breville BigLoaf.. awaiting delivery.... Now, need to decide on a HG and stand...

Brett, what do you use as the HG stand/\/holder?

Re: Bread Maker mods - Details?

Currently my arm I havent found anything that is suitable for a stand that is sensible money yet. I went to Bunnings to look for the drill stand that Grendel bought but had no luck. I might see a few more hardware stores to see if I can find one somewhere.

        Ahh... ok... Thanks Mate...

A visit to Bunnings was on the cards... perhaps not all Bunnings sell the drill stand??

I will check the Norwest store and see what they have....

I had dramas finding that drill stand also. My local (tiny) Bunnings didnt have it, but were able to order it in from another Bunnings. The order lady told me that they were not stock items any more, so I assume theyll get harder to find now .
          Good luck with it.

This one is a wider pan where as the other one I bought is the tall square type.
Anyone know which is the better style of pan?
I have a Sunbeam bakehouse - tall square bowl.

Several of us have compared roast times and the tall bowls provide significantly shorter roast times than the wider ones - Belinda (who has been using a wider one has been using a lid to keep the heat in) - I find that I have more heat than I need (can get to 1st crack in about 7 minutes if I crank it up).

The wider ones can do a larger roast - but Ive done 600+ grams in mine no problem (could do a bit more if I wished)....

A super automatica bottle capper works well. You should be able to pick one of these up cheap secondhand through the papers.

What about building a stand out of wood?

Youd just need a flat base for stability and a shaft to hold the gun.
Could probably attach shaft to base with angle brackets. Simple.
Then youd have to figure out how to attach the gun to the shaft but you have to do that anyway no matter what type of stand you go for.

Im guessing about a foot square for the base and 2 inches square for the shaft.

                    Thoughts?

                    EDIT:
On second thoughts, I have an old umbrella stand not being used at the moment.
Its heavy enough to not move and I could put the broken umrella shaft in to hold a HG.

Re: Bread Maker mods - Details?

as promised a couple of pictures.

I didnt take any as I put it back together and it was all a bit of a PIA to reassemble so I didnt want to have to pull it apart to take some photos.  you should get the idea of what I did.  I suspect they will all be different in how they are wired up, but the principles will remain the same.

I only really tried it once.  My heat gun is an old handme down and i dont think it had the grunt (i couldnt tell the difference between 1 or 2 on the switch), 30 mins and i still didnt make it to 1st crack.  I was going to get a new heat gun but ended up getting a Hottop instead.  the breadmaker went to a new home yesterday.

Burn marks were from previous owner.  I think it was used an average of 4-5 times a week for 5 years, it had had a fair bit of use.  It was stil working when I got it, although the shaft for the paddle is fairly worn.

the hinge for the lid has been unscrewed. but it still sits on top. i removed it as I thought it would be in the way.

so to reiterate, DONT TRY THIS AT HOME....

in operation (switch lit up anyway)  excuse the photo, white balance was wrong.

Re: Bread Maker mods - Details?

inside the main wiring compartment. circuit board was contained down the bottom. again removed to save weight.

wiring was fairly simple. I used similar guaged wire, soldered and heat shrinked.
