Excellent design, I like it. Now only if you could hook it up to an electric circuit for a more controlled roast..

Also judging by the pictures (I cant see it on them) where can you actually see through the drum to the beans?

Re: Im building a bbq roaster! a few questions:

Hey there, yeah im doing 1.25kg batches, it soles 20% of mass to net 1kg +-30-40g, so its pretty good. I have yet to gear up the output so i can possibly do larger batches, at the moment it is not fast enough to keep more beans moving enough.

I have a aluminium trier, which i poke in to get a visual sample for nearer the end of the roast.

what kind of electric circuit do you mean? what would it control?

      Cheers, Mark

1.5kg batches now! which yields 1.2 kg of net coffee.

        Just thought Id say!

Im now trying to build a cooler with a box fan.

        Any tips?

An exhaust fan is more versatile

This looks like what I want to build! Thinking of using an old 4.5kg gas bottle cut up as the inner drum.

I have just started building a bbq based roaster at home, the thought of using a gas bottle crossed my mind a few times, but decided against it, as they have been used to hold a poisonous substance.
