    Whoa! Im with Mrs Robusto.

I like the black and white - its like a scene from a hitchcock thriller as opposed to the colour one, which is more like clockwork orange

Geez, Dennis. And I thought Mrs Robusto was the only one nagging me about the avatar. She wants it changed. Pronto.

Looks like Ill have to go into a brief period of contemplation. Could do a poll about it, I suppose. But that would be vain. So vain Id think this was about me. (Is that Carly Simon I hear?)

Dorf: start roasting with whatever you can afford. Its a heap of fun and before you know it, youll easily be able to justify spending more $$$s to upgrade, and it can be pretty much as cheap or expensive as you like.

Its terribly frustrating, but true Dorf. But the worlds biggest consumer market of 300 million people cant compare to this one of 21 million.

I came close to ordering an entire re-built Mercruiser V8 engine from the USA and having it delivered here for an extra $1000 and still I would have saved $$$$.

    Dorf,

There are no cheap off the shelf coffee roasters in Australia to my knowledge.... it is a very small and very specialised market - with a price to match!

But you can do what most of us do - build your own - for a fraction of the cost..... and the results are every bit as good (generally even better).....

At the bottom end of the "roll your own" roasters is the popcorn popper.... and that will do about the same volume as the IRoast.... and with only slightly more effort.

Then there is the Corretto..... a bread machine to agitate the beans and a heatgun..... superb results and up to 600 grams in each roast (some have done 1KG!!!!)

Have a read of the roasters thread here for details - there is no need to spend heaps of dollars for expensive equipment..... and you can also enjoy the cost savings and enhanced taste of your own freshly roasted coffee.

started a topic So where can I get an I Roast 2 for a good price?

So where can I get an I Roast 2 for a good price?

OK I know its a loaded question but..............

The US site lists the the I Roast 2 for US $199 (yes I know its 110V) that equates to AUS $ 230. Now some of the prices Ive found around Brisbane are in the AUS $450 range.

Now I understand that they are probably not a huge seller and that an Aussie shop needs to make a profit but twice the US price?

So, Ive ocnvinced the finance manager that we need a roaster but unless I can get one for something close to the US price I will be forced to continue with pre roasted coffee.

So where should I start looking? Site sponsors preferred!

Working...
