Do you think the beans up the sides may be too close to the heating element, and adversely affecting the roast? If you had a flat bottom, all the beans would receive nearly the same amount of heat.

      TG,
I know what you mean I have had a numerous problems dealing with a similar (probably all owned by the same person...) website, the link was more of just a reference, and I would trust most of the companies I have ordered lots of goods through in China more than any of those local ones. (Just talking from past experiences). Costs about the same too even after international shipping is taken into account.

      nunu,
I also thought this might be a problem, but hope the beans move around enough to overcome this. Looks like I will just have to wait and see with this one. Worst case scenario I get a different roasting chamber, and from what I can tell a flat bottom is not that much better, as the temperature is a lot higher at the edges and cooler in the center. Again, Im sure if you get the bean movement right, this wont matter as much.

The beans will mainly find themselves around the outside with a flat bottom anyway. Thats where you want them, where the circulating convective currents are.

My motor turns at about 60 rpm on a 12v supply. The beans rarely get a chance to hang around the middle of the pot.

Using the "holders" from a rotisserie set, This is my bean agitator.

I attached the top portion of a metal clothes hanger to reach the edge of the pot.
