    I think it comes down to a game of chicken really.
    If I choose 10 seconds, and someone else chooses 5 seconds AND we have the same bid - I win. And with anything less than 10 seconds to go, a refresh is going to take longer that that, so its probably final bid anyway.

    I think that *bay used to briefly extend the auction when late bids were put in, but I dont think that it the case these days.

    If we both bid same amount at exactly the same time, the the Auction site can worry about working that out. :P

    Ive used justsnipe 4 times now. 2 of the auctions I am sure it won the item for me much cheaper than if I had been watching it and bidding manually.

    You specify how close to the end to bid.
    3 seconds would be about minimum.
    Then its down to who bids the most etc as per usual.

    I use BidNip.com

    I think Presso won something with it after I put him onto it.
