Re: Greens Loader for commercial Roasters
Think a lot of we longer term home roasters would have found a few...
I dont collect all the rocky and metal bits that occasionally make it into a batch pre-roast but if I did, there would be a nice little pile of small stones, concrete chips, nail heads and even a couple of complete nails... One recently, was about 50mm odd long.
Most of em turn up in bags of dry processed Ethiopian and Yemeni varieties but have had the occasional rock or two from other areas as well. Keeps you on your toes :P.... Have never observed any damage to the burrs of a decent grinder when rocks make it past inspection but wouldnt want a piece of rusty nail or other metal making its way through. These would do some damage, even if it turns out to be repairable.
Have got into the habit of stirring through weighed up bean batches with a NIB magnet and theres not much iron or steel that gets past one of these. If you have any old and never to be used again hard drives kicking around, you can acquire a couple of very useful magnets from the Voice Coil assembly of these, that are handy for this kind of thing. Mind you, decent NIBs are not very expensive these days.....
