Re: Getting the feel for the Corretto

Im getting my setup much more polished now. Adjustable stand for the HG, and cover from BM lid. Just now trying to decide if Im going to drill the BM for my thermoprobe or if Ill wait. If I do it with my current probe it looks like it will only get around 1/2 of the length into the beans, which still might be ok.

Any experience on using a BM lid cover with a non-variable HG and varying the height? I saw someone do it with a digital HG.

Ill post some pics after the next roast. My previous roasts are starting to enter their optimum times, so starting to play more with brewing parameters at the moment.

      Hey Droshi

Another way is the way we set up - use a bead type thermocouple.

I drilled a 1/8 hole in one corner of the breadpan. Insert the bead type through that hole as far as you want, depending on bean mass and then drop the pan into the machine and fill with beans.

This way when you want to dump the beans, the probe just falls straight out when you lift the bread pan out.

bead type probes are only around 8 bucks.

Actually I tried a thermocouple, but with my meter I couldnt get any voltage across the type K junction. It could be that the thermocouple I had was damaged, but I dont really think so.

Instead Im sticking with the thermal resistor type for now, and Ive drilled my machine to fit it. If I eventually replace it with a smaller diameter I dont think it will make to big a difference as a single bean still wouldnt fit through the gap.

Only thing left to do is to cut a slot in my lid to have a place for chaff to eject, and of course spend some more time learning to use my setup.

The probe type thermocouple generally goes into the bean mass about 2cm or so.
Just drill away and the measure, one little hole or 2 wont matter
